IMAX In Talks With Abrams For Episode VII
Jay Cochran - September 26, 2013

It looks like parts of J.J. Abrams upcoming Star Wars Episode VII movie could be shot with IMAX cameras, at least according to a statement made by IMAX CEO Richard Gelfond during a Goldman Sachs conference with investors where he stated the following:

"We are talking to J.J. Abrams team now about the next Star Wars being used with partly IMAX cameras."

This has become a fairly common practice with big blockbuster films these days such as seen with the Dark Knight movies. Abrams also used IMAX cameras for some of the shooting he did for Star Trek Into Darkness. A Star Wars film seems like a no-brainier for this sort of thing. Could you imagine seeing something like a big Star Detroyer moving across the screen like we saw in the opening of Episode IV, only in beautiful IMAX?
