Hasbro Working On The AT-TE Problem

Jay Cochran - September 12, 2008
For those of you who have been experiencing problems with Hasbro’s new AT-TE , specifically the legs are not able to support the weight of the toy without popping off, Hasbro tells us that they are aware of the problem. They are working with their Quality Assurance team on a solution, which they will offer to consumers. Of course, Hasbro will offer a refund to anyone who is not satisfied or consumers can wait for the repair. You can contact Hasbro at www.hasbro.com or by calling toll-free, 800-327-8264.

I live in Philly and Wizard World Philadelphia will be here May 30th - June 1st and the crappy ass exclusives we are getting are a repainted Mr. Freeze, The Knight Shadow Batman, and a stupid Black suit Superman. Now I like the Black Suit Superman, so much I bought 5 of them, but this version sucks, same figure but more black on the neck..that is just crude and stupid. I already own the Knight Shadow Batman, cool figure but a regular release so who gives a crap unless you missed him first time around. Mr. Freeze is a slightly repainted figure. Ok here is the problem, ther ealready was a Mr. Freeze in the Batman line, then he was repainted for the DCSH line and now a crappy third repaint..Bull cocky!!! Why does the SDCC get cool exclusives like the Lobo, Giganta, and the King Grayskull and we get crappy repaints that aren't really good AT ALL. The 4 Horsemen are supposed to be in Philly and this is all we get. I know SDCC and the Chicago thing are the biggest but Philly has a huge following and people from all over are coming to this thing. Why are we short changed and everyone else is blessed with cool figures, what is the deal...WHAT IS THE DEAL? Anyone else pissed?

is hat the long haired supes? if so can i buy one from u

Wizard has messed up big time this year by having WWChicago BEFORE San Diego. In past years, Mattel has sold its exclusives in all the shows after SDCC. I'm considering going to San Diego this sumemr just because I want those exclusive Mattel toys.

I've talked to the guys at Mattel and asked them WHY they don't have an online store! Hasbro has one and all of the convention exclusives were available through their store. Mattel has an online store for its Barbie collectors...how hard is it for them to have one for these other exclusives? Honestly, when someone buys one at a con and sells it on Ebay for absurd amounts, how does that benefit Mattel? They don't get any kickbacks, so they aren't making any additional money on those figures. If you could buy them directly from Mattel--putting money directly into their pockets-- wouldn't that be better for everyone concerned???

Been wondering that same thing myself, the online store, that is. Did they happen to give you an answer?

I guess it's all about what someone wants. For me, I could not care less about any of the exclusives of any of the 2008 cons mentioned so far. I have Lobo from DC Direct, so that works for me. The repaints going to Philly are just that, repaints. And they were already released with the DC Superheroes line to boot. If someone is a completeist, then yeah, it sucks to have exclusives like that in an area where you can not feasibly afford to go to. Last year, I was interested only in the ML editions of She-Hulk and Stan Lee (all bow!). But guess what, I found them on the Hasbro toy shop website for cost. And I desided I really didn't like Shulkie, either. So, that worked out for me, but I can see where you are coming from. This year, ML has the Ka-zar family exclusives at SDCC, which I am somewhat interested in, though I have yet to see a good sculpt on an almost costume-bare figure. However, I think they will again be available on Hasbro's website, meaning I don't have to lament not being able to make the trip.

The way I see it, an exclusive should be something special, but not entirely unique. What I mean by that is that I have a Lobo and a She-hulk already that I am happy with. Can my Lobo do the electic slide with his limited articulation? No. And if I really wanted that, I'd be out there with you. I really wanted a Fantastic Four-era She-hulk, but the pony tail and lack of white boots turned me off to the exculsive. (not to mention the cankles!)

I guess your best bet is to keep an eye on the online retailer websites when the cons come around, and hope you can score what you're looking for at a reasonable price from them. I have heard Big Bad Toy Store is pretty good about that. If not, try contacting the distributor directly. Can't hurt. Most have their own websites, or someone who they are closely affiliated with, where you can get things like that for cost. They know everyone can't make it to every show, and keep stuff aside for that reason.

Wait a minute..I'm REALLY confused.

You think the black suit Superman is "stupid".

Yet...You like it, and you "bought 5 of them"...Even though you think "this version sucks"...And, it's also "crude and stupid".

Are you trying to say that you like the idea of Black-Suit Superman, you just don't like the way this one was done?

Otherwise, this is a schizophrenic post.

Help me...

No, you misread or I mis-wrote. I don't like the "new" black suit Superman that is being offered at the comic book convention. I love the original black suit Superman but the new one has black going up his neck which I find awful.

All I can say is location, location, location. There are no cons within reach of where I live, so any con's news is exclusive to us. You have to figure they will market the best to where the have the biggest ticket sales, which means highest population, and therefore 'best' locales. All you (and I) can do is hope whatever is exclusive eventually shows up on the proprietor's website, like the Star Trek WOK figures or the Legends She-Hulk and Stan Lee. Small comfort, but all I can offer.

I hear you, but it just bums me out that we are getting the shaft. The problem really for me is that I know Lobo is going to fetch TONS of money on Ebay, beyond my price range, as a matter of fact all of them are going to go for tons of money because they are big deal figures. People have been hounding Mattel for Lobo and Giganta so anything with them is a BIG DEAL, no one was bugging Mattel about ManBat. Its just that they will go for some serious cash. I also like the MOTU Grayskull character, glad these are in the same scale are DCUC and Marvel LEgends, good crossover stuff, him I can pass though I do want him but the other...come on.
