2013 Toy Fair: Star Wars Exclusives For 2013

Jay Cochran - February 14, 2013
The Vintage Collection may be dead as a main line but we will still be getting some Vintage Collection vehicles and figures as store exclusives in 2013. Most of these will see a non-exclusive release under the new "The Black" series with non-vintage style packaging. Here is a breakdown as was revealed last weekend at the New York Toy Fair.

Toys R' Us

- Battle of Geonosis Vintage Republic Gunship. This version will come in deco colors specific to the one Yoda rode in during Episode II. It will come with the gun turrets as well as figures of Yoda, Clone Pilot and Clone Trooper.

- Biggs' X-Wing - This will go nicely with the new Biggs Darklighter figure in X-Wing outfit which is slated for the Black series.

Target

Darth Vader's Origins - This is a re-release of the Darth Vader on the operating table with surgical droids that was released under the Revenge of the Sith line.

K-Mart

We will be getting a new Scanning Crew and Ewoks with Catapult set. These sets will come in the Vintage style 2-pack packaging like we have seen with previous Kmart exclusives.

Online Exclusive

- Evolutions sets return with the Anakin to Darth Vader set.

Amazon.com

Tie Interceptor - in Vintage style packaging. No figures will be included with this one.

Slave-1 with Han Solo in Carbonite - This will be a repainted version of the large Slave-1 released for the Clone Wars line. It will come in ESB Vintage style packaging.

San Diego Comic Con

- Black series SDCC exclusive Boba Fett - No details have been released, but the two most likely rumors would be that the Comic-Con exclusive would be in Empire Strikes Back colors and come with a Carbonite Han Solo, while a non comic-con exclusive version would be released at retail without the Carbonite. The second rumor is that the comic con version would be of Boba Fett in either ESB colors or ROTJ colors, while the regular retail version would be in the colors not chosen for the convention. We will likely be hearing more on this in the next couple of months.

lol... did you edit that? Cause I swear it never said Lando. I had to check YoJoe's post to see who you were talking about.

No I asked about Lando and I got a picture of Luke instead

If anyone in Canada can pick me up 3 of the 501st jet pack trooper. The bone heads at Hasbro said the Clone Wars figures on the Yoda card will not be sold in the US.

Lando...

There were two recent ones. One came out and everyone was Ike... "That one is awesome!!!", then a year or two later they brought out an even better one:

The pescimist in me says Hasbro/Kenner planned it this way ever since the POTF2 figures. Do the bare bones articulation first which everyone will buy anyway because there was a Star Wars drought for a good ten years after the vintage line (you want me to believe they couldn't give their figures knee and elbow joints in the mid 90s???). Then slowly trickle out the same figures with more and more articulation each time. Fooling the collector into thinking, "OK, THIS is the ultimate version of Bespin Luke. I'll buy this ONE more...." Stretch this out for a good 15 years until they just can't do it anymore and then BOOM...what do ya know! A new scale comes along!

Crafty.

Hasbro needs to get with the program and adopt the articulation style of their other 3 3/4 lines for Star Wars.

GiJoe and MU are so much better than Star Wars. I cringe everytime I see the t-crotch

It's all to make more money...which we all know, Star Wars is great at. A few years down the line, they'll release the "super articulated" figures that have GI Joe articulation, and get everyone to buy the figures of the same characters they already own four or five of...

JoeRhyno - 2013-02-13 @ 3:26 am

What's funny is they started getting to a point where some of their figures has Joe like articulation:

After making figures like those, I always thought it was weird making hips like these and then the other figures, in the same vintage lines would get the T-crotch hips. I really hope they keep it consitant with the 6" black series.
