3 Actresses On Short List For Lead Role In Star Wars: Episode 8?

While the casting process for the 2017 film is said to still be in the early stages, sources for the Wrap say the search for the femaie lead is narrowing, with three names on the short list;


Golden Globe winner Gina Rodriguez (“Jane the Virgin”), Golden Globe nominee Tatiana Maslany (“Orphan Black”) and “Me and Earl and the Dying Girl” star Olivia Cooke.


Oscar winner Benicio del Toro is also said to be on a short list, to play the film's villain.

Star Wars: Episode 8 scheduled for May 26, 2017 will be directed by Rian Johnson, and produced by Ram Bergman and Lucasfilm’s Kathy Kennedy, with production expected to start early next year.
